Habitat for Humanity - Susquehanna Valley, PA

I've been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity for three years now. I make scrapbooks (not photo albums) for their new homeowners. Most would say it is a daunting job but I don't look at it that way. I get a sense of accomplishment when I bring the book to its end. Of course, you must be at the build every time something is being done, but that is most rewarding as well. Usually the volunteers delight in having their pictures taken and will even pose for you and many of the volunteers come back year after year so they get to know you too. Most of the homeowners don't mind their pictures being taken either though some are very shy. Our 2011 home will be dedicated on October 15th and that is when I present the scrapbook but I take photos that day too, so I ask for the book back so that I may finish it and then I return it to them at their convenience. Watching the looks on everyone's face at the job I've done with the book is priceless! This is a wonderful organization to work with, I would definitely check it out - especially the one in Union-Snyder County, PA!
