I received an expiration notice, what do I do?

I received notice that one of our listings is due to expire on 11/28/11. However, when I clicked on CHANGE EXPIRATION, the expiration date was 5/01/12. I recall having changed the expiration date recently, so which date is effective?

    Hello Claire,

To view the most current expiration date for an opportunity you can always look at your organization dashboard (the screen where all of your opportunities are listed)

In the top right hand corner. The dates listed in the 'Expires' column reflect the most current information.

To edit this information at any time simply select an opportunity by checking to corresponding box:

Next, click 'Change Expiration'. The window that opens will automatically display a date scheduled six months--180 days--out. Edit the dates to your liking and then click 'Save'.

    Hope this helps!

Tried that and all I get is a message that says I have to Edit the post. I'm trying to find the edit and have been searching for 20 wasted minutes. I like the old system, less navigation and KISS method works for me. I don't like this new product and I am not spending any more time trying to find something that should be so easy to maintain. Hi Merle.

If an opportunity is date-specific (e.g. per-determined start and end dates) you cannot edit the expiration dates without changing the time frame to 'Ongoing'. This is to prevent outdated opportunities from showing up in search results.

To change the expiration dates of the opportunity in question you need to edit the opportunity first...for directions click on the link below:

How To Edit An Existing Opportunity

In the 'When & Where' portion make sure you change the time frame to 'Ongoing'. Click 'Update & Next Step'. Go back to the dashboard screen and change the activation dates accordingly.

  • Hi Merle,

Designer speaking. I'm sorry this has been so frustrating for you, but thank you for taking the time to tell us. We're constantly working to improve our products and it sounds like we have room for improvement with the process for updating date-specific listings.

    Thanks again and take care,
    Molly

I'm trying to make a listing that has been filled inactive, but when I try to change the expiration date a error message pops up saying that my opportunity must be ongoing and published. I don't want to delete the posting, but I also no longer need to recruit for the opportunity. How do I make the opportunity inactive?

      Wayne,

You can edit an expired opportunity. Simply click on the corresponding row in your dashboard. In the edit window that appears below click on the button labeled 'Edit'. Once you open the listing flow for this opportunity click on the 'When & Where' posting step to change the dates of the opportunity. Once you select the correct dates, click on 'Save & Next Step' to save your progress.

(NOTE: Setting the dates in the future will automatically reactivate your listing).

    sad I’m confused
e.Mail said that accounts would expire this month unless I renewed them. To renew, I was told to click on above listings. Nothing happened when I clicked on any/all of my listings. I would have logged in, but couldn't do it as there is no log-in screen on e.Mail Site. I do like to use your site as I get responses from it.

I'm trying to follow the directions, pasted below, to manage my listings, so I can edit and reactivate. The steps in "quotes" were a problem. I only see how to manage listing contacts. There is no option I can see that says ""Listing Manager," then"Manage Listings", which should lead to "View Inactive Listings."

From the VolunteerMatch Homepage click My Account in the upper right corner and log in if necessary.
    Select an organization to manage.
Under "Listing Manager," then"Manage Listings", click View Inactive Listings.
Click Edit under the Action heading beside the the opportunity you would like to update. On the Edit Listing page, scroll to the bottom, and click Continue.
The next page allows you to set the Expiration Date of your opportunity. Use the calendar to select a new Expiration Date in the future. Click Continue

We have reached our number of applicants for a few of our internships and are no longer accepting applications. I need to inactive those postings, but it won't let me before the expiration date.
